SAP CRM Security Guides – Part I: Getting the Security Requirements in a Project

For most SAP CRM Functional Consultants, when it comes to SAP CRM Security, they normally leave it to a SAP Security Consultant. However, SAP CRM 7.0 is WEB UI based and therefore, Security Consultants who are normally working in SAP ECC will find it a bit difficult working with SAP CRM 7.0 Roles and Security Concept. 

This guide will try to provide a fundamental knowledge to set up Security Component for a SAP CRM Project. 

We start with Part I: Getting the Security Requirements (for the Blueprint)

Step 1. Find out all the defined Business Roles in the system. 

Step 2. Define the Authorisation Roles and assign it to Business Roles

Find out whether the client is having Central User Administrator, Trusted Connection with other system. 

Based on the Client requirements, define which method is suitable: Indirect Assignment or Direct Assignment of Business Roles to User.

Step 3. Come up with a Security Matrix with all the Security Roles (Business Roles)

Step 4. Define how users are created and maintained. 

Step 5. Assign Security Roles to users.
